ADAS CALIBRATION
IN FAIRFAX, VA
After a collision or windshield replacement, your vehicle’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems need to be recalibrated to factory specifications. Quality Auto Body ensures every camera, sensor, and safety system is restored so your vehicle protects you the way it was designed to.
WHAT IS ADAS CALIBRATION AND WHY DOES IT MATTER?
Modern vehicles are equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) — cameras, radar sensors, and lidar that power features like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warnings, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and parking assist. These systems rely on precise sensor alignment to function correctly.
After a collision, windshield replacement, or even a wheel alignment, these sensors can shift out of position. If they’re not recalibrated, your safety systems may not activate when they should — or may activate when they shouldn’t. ADAS calibration restores every sensor and camera to the exact angles and positions specified by your vehicle’s manufacturer.
FORWARD-FACING CAMERA
Windshield-mounted camera for lane departure, automatic braking, and traffic sign recognition. Static and dynamic calibration.
FRONT RADAR SENSOR
Adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning radar recalibrated to manufacturer targeting specs.
BLIND SPOT MONITORS
Rear quarter-panel radar sensors that detect vehicles in your blind spots. Recalibrated after collision or bumper replacement.
REAR CAMERA
Backup camera alignment and calibration for parking guidelines and rear cross-traffic alert accuracy.
PARKING SENSORS
Ultrasonic parking sensors in bumpers recalibrated after bumper repair or replacement for accurate proximity detection.
SURROUND VIEW
360-degree camera systems that stitch multiple camera feeds. All cameras must be calibrated together for an accurate image.
WHY ADAS CALIBRATION IS CRITICAL AFTER COLLISION REPAIR
Even a minor fender bender can shift a radar sensor or camera mount enough to compromise your vehicle’s safety systems. If your forward collision warning, lane keep assist, or automatic emergency braking isn’t calibrated correctly, it may not activate when you need it — or worse, it could activate unexpectedly and cause a secondary accident.
At Quality Auto Body, ADAS calibration is a standard part of our collision repair process when your vehicle requires it. We don’t skip it and we don’t guess — we follow manufacturer procedures to verify every system is targeting correctly before your vehicle leaves our shop. If you’ve had a windshield replaced elsewhere and need calibration, we handle that too. Call (703) 591-6090 or stop by 3174 Draper Drive in Fairfax.

What is ADAS calibration?
ADAS calibration is the process of resetting and realigning the cameras, radar sensors, and lidar on your vehicle so that safety features like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control work correctly. It’s required after any repair or replacement that may have shifted these components.
When is ADAS calibration needed?
ADAS calibration is needed after collision repair, windshield replacement, bumper repair or replacement, wheel alignment, suspension work, or any repair that involves removing or disturbing a camera or sensor mount.
What happens if I skip ADAS calibration?
Your safety systems may not work correctly. Automatic braking might not activate in time, lane keep assist could steer you in the wrong direction, and blind spot monitoring may miss vehicles. In a worst case scenario, a miscalibrated system could cause an accident instead of preventing one.
Does my vehicle have ADAS?
Most vehicles manufactured after 2015 have some form of ADAS. If your vehicle has features like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, or a backup camera with guidelines, it has ADAS components that may need calibration after repairs.
Does insurance cover ADAS calibration?
Yes. When ADAS calibration is required as part of a collision repair, it’s included in the insurance claim. We document the calibration requirement and submit it to your carrier as part of the repair estimate.
Can I get ADAS calibration after a windshield replacement done elsewhere?
Yes. If you had your windshield replaced at a glass shop and they didn’t calibrate the forward-facing camera, bring it to us. We’ll perform the calibration to manufacturer specs so your safety systems work correctly.
