Insurance adjusters write their initial estimates based on what they can see from the outside of your vehicle. But collision damage often extends beyond what’s visible — bent reinforcement bars behind bumpers, cracked mounting brackets, damaged wiring harnesses, and structural deformation that only shows up once panels are removed. When we find additional damage during disassembly, we document it with photos, write a supplement estimate, and submit it to your insurance company for approval. We don’t skip hidden damage to save the insurance company money. Your vehicle gets repaired correctly, period.
YOUR RIGHT TO CHOOSE YOUR OWN BODY SHOP
In Virginia, you have the legal right to take your vehicle to any body shop you choose for collision repair, regardless of what your insurance company suggests. Some carriers maintain “preferred shop” lists and may steer you toward those shops, but you are not required to use them. Do I have to use my insurance company’s recommended shop?
No. In Virginia, you have the legal right to choose any body shop. Insurance companies may suggest their ‘preferred’ shops, but you are not required to use them. Quality Auto Body is an independent shop that works for you.
What insurance companies do you work with?
All of them. GEICO, State Farm, Progressive, Allstate, USAA, Nationwide, Liberty Mutual, Travelers, and every other carrier operating in Virginia. We handle the claims process with any insurer.
Do I have to pay anything out of pocket?
You’re responsible for your deductible (the amount you chose when you set up your policy). Everything above that is covered by insurance. We collect your deductible at pickup and handle all other billing directly with your carrier.
What happens if the repair costs more than the initial estimate?
It’s common to find hidden damage during disassembly that wasn’t visible in the initial estimate. When that happens, we document it with photos, write a supplement, and submit it to your insurance for approval before proceeding. You don’t pay more — your insurance does.
How long does the insurance claims process take?
The claims process itself usually takes 1-3 days for estimate approval. The repair timeline depends on the damage. We communicate with your adjuster daily to keep things moving and avoid delays.
Will filing a claim raise my insurance rates?
That depends on your policy, your carrier, and whether you were at fault. We can’t advise on that — but we can tell you that we’ll make sure your vehicle gets repaired correctly regardless of the claim outcome.
